Pity System
Introduction
My name is Daryan, I am the owner of GamarsTCG. I would assume you clicked on this page wondering how in the world would a pity system work on a Pokemon shop. Well this isn't quite like those pity systems you would see in your gacha games like Genshin Impact or Dragon Ball Legends. It is my personal take on a how a pity system would be executed on IRL Pokemon cards.
How it works (hopefully)
Just a disclaimer, I am a small business ran completely alone. I am starting this journey with pretty limited funds as a college student looking to venture into the world of business. On top of that, currently I am running on very small margins to put myself out there. However I want to implement this system to give back to the TCG community I grew up with and I understand how frustrating it can be to spend a lot of money just to get absolutely zero hits. Hopefully as my business grows I can give back further (and maybe adjust these pity rates).
Now with the disclaimer out of the way, here is how it will work:
- Purchases that contain at least 20 booster packs, for example if you purchased 20 singles, or if you purchased two Japanese booster boxes that contained 10 packs each, will qualify for pity.
- Once you receive your purchase, DO NOT IMMEDIATELY OPEN THE BOX.
- Before opening the package, set up a camera up in a well-lit environment.
- Once you are set up, you will record yourself showing all sides of the box to prove the box has not been tampered with after arriving. ANY SIGNS OF TAMPERING OR RESEALING WILL IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFY YOU.
- Once you have shown all sides of the box, you may then start to open the package, however make sure your hands and the package are completely visible. You are essentially recording an unboxing video.
- Once unboxed, you can start to rip into your packs. Make sure every single card that is pulled is visible under the camera.
- Once all the packs have been opened, you must show every single card to the camera that you have pulled to verify that there was no further tampering.
- Now here is where the pity system comes into play, if you opened all your packs and you have not gotten a hit**, then I will send you an extra booster pack (or more depending on purchase quantity, up to my discretion), completely free of charge. Although the packs may vary, you may not get the same pack as the ones you have purchased.
- To redeem this pity system, send videos and order confirmations to me at daryan@gamarstcg.com. I will work personally with you to confirm everything. However if a video seems fishy, it may be disqualified.
**Here are the types of cards that are deemed a hit:
- Chase cards, defined as the top 5 most expensive cards of a set, regardless of rarity
- Shiny Rares
- Double Rares
- Ultra Rares / Super Rares
- Secret Rares
- Illustration Rares
- Special Illustration Rares
- Hyper Rares
You can refer to this wiki page on what these rarities are defined as in more depth.
Feedback
Overall this system is incredibly in beta, it may stay but it also may be gone at anytime. I am not completely sure. I am trying this in the attempt to stick out in the crowd but also I can relate to the struggle of purchasing a bunch of singles or a booster box and not quite getting a hit. These rates are definitely subject to change in the future (especially if it drives me bankrupt), but most likely if this system works in my favor, I'll definitely tweak it in yours. The system in place is definitely not sure proof either, it relies on the honor system and the trust I am placing in my community. Each order is definitely subject to different treatment, purchases with higher quantity are definitely going to have a better pity reward, but each order is completely subject to my discretion, although I will be as fair as possible (hope you trust me). I would love to hear feedback about suggestions, ideas, or bugs with my system. Feel free to contact me down below.
